Cybersecurity a serious threat, ABU Technical Committee says

The ABU Technical Committee has recognised cybersecurity as a serious threat and called on ABU members to be well prepared.

At its two-day meeting in Ashgabat, the Committee recommended that the ABU throw its weight behind efforts by the World Broadcasting Unions (WBU) to help broadcasters take precautions against cyberattacks.

It urged ABU members to regularly review and evaluate the security systems and protocols in place to be better prepared for potential attacks and threats.

The Committee also recommended that ABU members support efforts by the WBU to protect the availability of C-Band spectrum for future broadcast applications.

It called on ABU members to work closely with satellite service providers and government regulators on the issue.

The Committee’s recommendations and decisions will be briefed to the General Assembly and the secretariat will take it forward as required.
