NHK to Launch Chinese-Language Push Notification Service of Earthquakes and Tsunami

NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) conveys diverse information about Japan to the people of other countries and regions through the international broadcasting services of “NHK WORLD-JAPAN”.

Seeking also to distribute more information to the rising numbers of foreign residents and tourists coming to Japan, NHK WORLD-JAPAN will start a Chinese-language push notification service in November, in addition to the service currently provided in English.

NHK will launch the Chinese-language push notification service on “NHK WORLD TV app”. Emergency information on earthquakes (Japan Meteorological Agency’s announcements of earthquakes of intensity three and above) and tsunami will be provided in simplified or traditional Chinese characters. Users select languages and categories of notifications they want to receive.
