Asiavision Connects to South America

As a record number of fires rage through the Amazon, Asiavision has this week connected Members to the events in South America through an arrangement with AIL, Alianza Informativa Latinoamericana (Latin American Informative Alliance) to upload footage from Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia.

AIL is a non-profit organization created in 2005, currently composed of 22 private television networks in Latin America and the Caribbean, and works similarly to Asiavision, curating the exchange of news items between its Member broadcasters.

Through the agreement to provide coverage of the fires raging across the Amazon rain forest, and coverage by ABU’s Sister Union, the Eurovision news exchange, AVN has provided complete coverage of the wildfires and the subsequent measures taken by world leaders at the G7 Summit in Biarritz, France.

This is a small first step in connecting Asiavision to the Americas and comes in the same week as the new Sister Union relationship with the African Union of Broadcasters gets underway.
