Unique Twinning Workshop On Climate Change Underway In Kuala Lumpur

Twenty-one journalists representing 15 countries from Sub- Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and the Pacific have begun a six day production workshop focusing on climate action and disaster preparedness. Getting the Message Across on Climate Change is a unique twinning initiative to link  journalists who produce programmes on climate change, disaster risk reduction and a variety of environmental issues. It is funded by the Malaysian Government through a UNESCO grant to encourage South-South cooperation.

The Kuala Lumpur workshop (7 -12 October) is a starting point for developing a long-term cooperation programme between media organisations in Africa, Asia and the Pacific that will gradually establish a global network of like-minded journalists to exchange ideas experiences and multi-platform materials.

The six day workshop includes theoretical presentations followed up by practical location work that will see the participants produce features  and items for their various outlets covering environmental protection, climate change adaptation and risk reduction stories.
