Malaysian media group Media Prima is providing aid to flood victims in the country.

Media Prima Audio’s (MPA) Radio Network, which has a stable of five radio stations, has joined hands with supermarket chain Giant Malaysia to provide daily essentials to people hit by the floods, the New Straits Times reports.

A donation box has been placed at Giant Kota Damansara near Kuala Lumpur. Members of the public have been urged to buy items from Giant and place them in the box.

MPA is then bringing the donation box to areas affected by the floods. MPA radio announcers and staff are also being dispatched to areas hit by floods to distribute aid.

Among the aid and contributions being given out are daily essentials such as food, drinks, towels, clothing, diapers and sarongs.

The aid and contributions are being distributed to flood victims seeking shelter at Temporary Flood Relief Centres in flood-hit areas.

“It is hoped the contributions will lessen the burden and hardship faced by flood victims,” MPA Chief Executive Officer Nazri Noran said.

He said MPA was honoured to work with Giant Malaysia in providing support and assistance to flood victims. Flooding triggered by monsoon rains has affected many parts of the country.
