2022-2023
The elections for the Technical Committee were held online for the first time this year. They were suspended in 2020 because of the pandemic and all members were given a one year extension.
The TC online election process began from 19 August 2021 and was completed on 12 October 2021. A total of 60 Members registered for the online election process which was conducted using the ElectionBuddy.com system.
The results of the ABU Technical Bureau elections for the 2022-2023 term were announced during the ABU Technical Bureau Annual meeting on 8 November. The elected members were as follows:

The election for the Chairman and Vice-Chairmen was held on 16 November during the ABU Technical Committee meeting.
Mr Hamid Dehghan Nayeri of IRIB-Iran was re-elected as the Chairman of the ABU Technical Bureau and ABU Technical Committee for a term of two years.
Mr Nayeri is the Director, International Technical Affairs at IRIB and was appointed Chairman of the Technical Committee at the TC meeting in Ashgabat in 2018.
Mr Sunil of DD-India and Mr Masashi Kamei of NHK- Japan were re-elected as Vice Chairmen.
Mr Kazim Pektas of TRT-Turkey was elected as Vice- Chairman of the Technical Committee.
The ABU Technical Committee confirmed the appointment of Mr Kazim Pektaz of TRT-Turkey as Topic Area Chairman for Production, Mr Kenichi Murayama of NHK- Japan as Topic Area Chairman for Transmission, Mr P Das of Prasar Bharati as Topic Area Chairman for Training & Services and Dr Li Leilei of NRTA-China for the Spectrum Topic Area.
2019-2021
The current Technical Bureau members were elected at the last Technical Committee elections held in Ashgabat in 2018. The members were to serve for a two year term, 2019-2020. Elections were supposed to be held in 2020.
However, all Technical Bureau members including the Chairman and Vice-Chairmen were given a one-year extension to their current terms (until 2021) when the elections were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since this procedure was outside the current Rules of Procedures of the Technical Committee, it was approved by the Technical Bureau on 23 November 2020.
The move came after the ABU Administrative Council postponed its own elections in 2020 to 2021 and gave a one-year extension to the term of its current members. All other ABU committees and governing bodies agreed to follow suit.
