We are pleased to invite you to join the 4th Central Asia Media Forum (CAMF2021) to be held online on 15th July, 2021.

The CAMF brings together media organizations from Central Asia and beyond to network and to initiate cooperation and joint initiatives. The forum provides a platform for sharing knowledge and future strategies, discuss solutions for challenges brought by the rapid developments in the media industry in the region and around the globe. The Forum knowledge exchange is led by expert speakers and skilled media practitioners, who will present and share their experiences in content creation and distribution and will explore the role of media in this fast-changing social environment.

The Forum programme addresses the Central Asian broadcasters’ needs. Among the topics to be discussed are Cybersecurity, OTT, Traditional vs Social Media, attracting audience by creating valuable content and many more. We also we also provide our members with an opportunity to present their content for exchange and find buyers.

Working language for all sessions will be English and Russian. We have arranged simultaneous translation for your comfortable participation.

We hope that you and your colleagues will actively participate and contribute to the 4th ABU Central Asia Media Forum.

Speaker 1: David Hayward, Digital News Consultant, BBC Media Action
David Hayward is a digital news consultant for BBC Media Action. He specialises in creating multi-media and multi-platform news strategies. He is currently working with major international news organisations based in Ukraine, Serbia, Sri Lanka and Northern Syria. David’s background is in journalism. During a distinguished career at the BBC, he worked as a reporter, producer and senior editor on network radio, TV and for the BBC World Service Trust. He specialised in digital media and future trends of journalism, having led some of the BBC’s most high-profile projects in multi-media, multi-skilled working.

Utilising Social Media to Reach Wider Audience
Speaker 2: Mr Dmitry Leontiev, Executive content producer of RT
Mr Dmitry Leontiev has joined RT, a Moscow-based global 24/7 television news network, in 2017. He’s a host and editor of a weekly podcast (live stream) on Russian domestic affairs. Dmitry was also a contributor for a YouTube channel about world history, and a producer for international news and breaking news stories on major political and economic events.
Dmitry has been working in journalism for over 15 years. Before RT, he was the head of news at Tsargrad TV channel, deputy chief editor at Lifenews website, and a producer at Rossiya 24 TV channel. During the last two years he was the host of weekly radio show on Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda.
Dmitry graduated from Fordham University in New York as double major in political science and theology.

Content Monetization: Successful Marketing Strategies
Speaker 1: Ms Aise Dilara Arslan, Head of VOD, TRT-Turkey
Mr Dilara Arslan is a digital strategist and the Lead of TRT 1’s Digital Team and ‘TRT İzle’ VOD platform.
She is part of the TRT networks leadership team that defines the local and international strategies for TRTs VOD properties.
Over the last few years, Dilara has been part of the core team responsible for the digital transformation of the TRT Network. She has focused the digital creative strategy around the launch of new channels such as TRT World (news), TRT 2 (art and culture) and the relaunch of brands such as TRT Belgesel (documentary) and TRT 1 (entertainment), the latter being the largest and oldest brand of TRT.
Currently, Dilara is responsible for developing and implementing strategies around the editorial vision, digital content and marketing for TRT 1 and its 15+ sub-brands. Over the last three years, she has strengthened TRT 1’s presence on all digital and social media platforms, setting the domestic industry benchmark for growth.
Dilara is often mistaken for a Gen Z, but is really a millennial and boomer (by heart at times).

Creating Added-Value Content: The Power of International Coproduction
Speaker 2: Mr Chandana, CEO at Stein Studios, Director of MTV Channels, MBC/MTV Sri Lanka
Chandana Sooriyabandara is a Sri Lankan television host, writer and producer. He became a news reporter and a political correspondent for TNL TV in 1993, where he hosted his own current affairs program.
Chandana has also served as the Channel Head of MTV Channels, a major television company in Sri Lanka.
Throughout his career, Chandana was a part of producing many successful current affairs, entertainment and ‘edutainment’ programmes. Chandana also acted as the executive producer of this show during this time.
In 2011, he started the “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” franchise show in Sri Lanka. The world-renowned quiz show, hosted by Chandana has had a massive success in Sri Lanka for over 10 years. In his time as Channel Head, he also introduced “Sri Lanka’s Got Talent”, the Sri Lankan counterpart of the hit show of FremantleMedia. In 2019, he started “The Voice – Sri Lanka”, in collaboration with ITV studios as the executive producer. Today apart from his work in studio administration, he is getting ready for the 10th Anniversary of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire – Sri Lanka.

Moreover, Khabar Agency produces high-quality television content covering diversified genres like central Asian history, travel documentaries, biographical series on legendary names, and of course, drama and comedy.
JSC “Khabar” Agency has become the ambassador of political and socio-cultural values and traditions, the 24KZ TV channel is the first 24-hour digital news TV channel in the country, the national satellite channel Qazaq TV is the first of its type in Kazakhstan. This 24/7 TV channel broadcasts in Kazakh, Russian, Uzbek, Kyrgyz and English languages, dedicating programs to education and information.
The main mission of the channel is educating the young with programmes promoting human and cultural values.

The National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan is the only broadcasting media structure in the country, distributing its television and radio programs covering 100% of territory of the republic.
MTRK runs in total 26 TV and 16 Radio Channels as “O’zbekiston 24”, “Toshkent”, “Sport” as well as “Madaniyat va ma’rifat”, “Dunyo bo’ylab” and others. MTRK manages the TV and Radio Companies of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and its broadcasting branches in all 11 regions of the republic.
All MTRK Channels are broadcasted on OTT Platform www.uzt.tv
O’zbektelefilm” Studio which is a part of MTRK annually produces documentaries, features films and series.
A new modern Media Center with large and smaller studios are set for the production of national television shows, talk shows, TV series and entertainment programs.

JSC «Republic TV and Radio Corporation «Kazakhstan» is a state TV and radio corporation that implements the information policy of our state.
Today, JSC «RTRK «Kazakhstan» unites in its structure: the national TV channel «Qazaqstan», TV channels «Qazsport», «Balapan», «Abai TV», «Kazakh Radio», radio «Shalqar», radio «Astana», radio» Classic « and regional TV and radio companies.
TV audience coverage – 99 % and radio audience coverage – 88.74 % of the population of Kazakhstan. The broadcasting network of the TV channel «Kazakhstan» includes news, TV series, feature films, documentaries and other programs. The corporation’s media assets meet the needs of a wide audience of radio and television broadcasting.

RTR-Planeta is the international service of VGTRK, a state-owned broadcaster in Russia. It is available throughout the world via cable and satellite. In fact, RTR Planeta is the only provider of Russian-language programming to the Asia-Pacific region covered by the AsiaSat 2 Satellite. To step up the accessibility of its content to viewers RTR Planeta has eagerly embraced new technologies launching in various IPTV, ADSL and other advanced networks.

Belteleradiocompany (BTRK) is a state institution that broadcasts on the first television channel, a number of specialized television channels and four radio broadcasting channels.
Main TV channels are “Belarus 1″which is a nationwide TV channel with general themes. The main information television channel of the Republic of Belarus.
“Belarus 2” is a nationwide entertainment TV channel. The channel has regional “windows” for regional TV and radio companies
“Belarus 3” is a nationwide cultural TV channel. The broadcast is mainly based on Belteleradiocompany productions. Such projects as “Kalyhanka”, “Zamlya Belarusian”, “Tayamnitsy dushy” and others are on air. Broadcasts has no ads.
