ABU-Central Asia Media Forum, 26 – 28 August 2013, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
There are many established and emerging broadcasting organisations in the Central Asian States of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan and most of them are members of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). These broadcasters face many challenges in terms of developing their infrastructure, choosing and implementing new technologies, developing new genres of content and accessing their audiences with new services. They also need to broadcast from diverse delivery platforms to all types of screens. To enable the broadcasters in the Central Asian Region to develop and achieve their objectives, the ABU is happy to offer assistance in many fields, including in consultancies on project preparation, consultancies on new genres of content, assistance in human resource capacity building, assistance in implementing new projects, assistance in capacity building in the areas of copyright, regulation and media legislation and assistance in setting up training institutions and media academies.
