Course Overview

The Live Sports Production programme is designed to benefit the Directors in production of a Sporting live event. Using the brand new, Live TV Simulator, the participants will be able to practise the art of storytelling and learn from various international broadcasting philosophies to broadcast a live event. The theoretical and practical course aims to encourage and develop existing expertise and creativity of participants.

Hosted by: Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC)

Venue: Sri Lanka Foundation, Sri Lanka Padanama Mw, 100 Independence Square, Colombo 00700, Sri Lanka

Hotel Accommodation : The Galadari Hotel, Colombo

Target Attendees:

  • Directors of sports events only
  • Minimum of a two-year experience in live sports production

Trainer: Mr Jean-Charles Vankerkoven (HBS Broadcast Academy’s Expert)

Objectives:

  • Discover the best practices in the field
  • Enhance understanding of sports direction and learn from making mistakes
  • To understand the various roles in a production team and to work effectively as a team
  • To be able to effectively adapt equipment to different types of events
  • To understand the use of different cameras in a live sports production
  • To adopt best practices for storytelling across live cut and replays

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand different camera formations and the usage of each camera
  • Understand the basic principles of sports storytelling
  • Be a confident member of the live sports directing team
  • Have a technical understanding on usage of the various broadcast equipment in live directing.
