Workshop on Archiving and Media Management

We are pleased to inform you that the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and Institut Penyiaran dan Penerangan Tun Abdul Razak (IPPTAR) are jointly organising a Workshop on Archiving and Media Management from 1-3 August, 2023.

Preservation, digitising and management of archives have always been a challenging area for our members and broadcasters as a whole. Technologies are changing in digitising the analogue tapes, particularly choosing digital codecs, formats to choosing the right media to store the digital files & to selecting appropriate metadata. These are all part of the digital solution but each of these steps has many different choices and each with its advantages and disadvantages. It is always prudent to make a start because the more you wait the more of your valuable and sometimes ‘heritage’ assets are getting damaged beyond recovery.

So, in the thematic workshop, we are bringing together some of the leading experts and the experienced ones in the field to share with you their approaches, the solutions about Archiving and management of these audiovisual assets. And also how their decisions are helping with the process as well as within the broadcast workflow. 

INVITATION

We are delighted to invite you and your organisation to join the Workshop. The registration is open to ABU Members for nominating your participants to join the event. The deadline for nomination is July 25, 2023.

The content of the event will be interesting to all broadcasters including technicians, engineers, producers and managers working with Radio and TV, and other professionals who are interested to learn digitisation and preservation of audiovisual contents within their facilities.

WORKSHOP VENUE
The workshop will take place at IPPTAR Premises in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

EXPENSES
There are no registration/participation fees for ABU members. All expenses on the travel and stay of your nominee are to be borne by your organisation.
