Workshop on Enhancing Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Transition Experience

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) with the support from Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC-Japan) are organizing an ITU-AIBD-ABU Pre-Summit Workshop on “Enhancing Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Transition Experience” to be held at the Shangri-la Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Monday 25 May 2015, before the Asia Media Summit 2015.

The workshop will assist participants in understanding the various types of digital terrestrial television technology that are used around the world, ATSC, DTMB, ISDB-T, and DVB T/T2, future trends of interactive multimedia services in Asia-Pacific and learn from countries experience in implementing the digital Terrestrial Television broadcasting transition.

The workshop is addressed to Policy Makers, Regulators, Broadcast Engineers, Corporate Executives and Managers, i.e. middle-level managers, administrators and officials dealing with strategic planning for the introduction and business for Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting. The final program will be available at http://www.aibd.org.my/ams.

To participate in the ITU-AIBD-ABU Pre-Summit Workshop on Enhancing Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Transition Experience and Asia Media Summit 2015, please register online at http://www.aibd.org.my/ams by 30 April 2015. Please be informed that no fee is being applied for participants who attend the ITU-AIBD-ABU Pre-Summit Workshop. Travel arrangements, accommodation should be made and borne by the participating Administration.

The ITU is pleased to provide full fellowships to cover one economy class roundtrip ticket and maximum three-day daily subsistence allowance (DSA) to ITU Members from the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in Asia countries subject to availability of funds. It is imperative that fellows prepare to present 5-6 slides on their current situation in implementation of the Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Transition in their respective countries and be present throughout the Pre-Summit Workshop.

Applicants requesting for fellowship are required to submit the fellowship request form duly signed by their Administration together with the registration form no later than 30 April 2015.

Those participants requiring an entry visa to Malaysia are requested to contact their local Embassy of Malaysia for information well in advance.

   c) To build skills enabling smooth transition from analogue to digital terrestrial television broadcasting
