The ABU Sports negotiates the deals on behalf of the members, and enters into contract with the federations and right holders. The major events, which are of common interest to the ABU members, are the Summer Olympics, the FIFA World Cup, and the Asian Games.

ABU Sports Group

The ABU Sports Group is open to ABU members interested in sports broadcasting. The group meets twice a year. Its discussions cover sports rights and facilities to trends in sports broadcasting, information on upcoming events of interest and relations with sporting bodies.

Media Service & Management

In addition to public and private broadcasters from developing countries who have limited purchasing power often the national broadcasters and private channels in developing countries are also faced with the same challenge. While facilitating members’ requirements on on-site production.

Trainings

Capacity building of its members is one of the major activities the ABU undertakes every year. Over the past years the Sports department has successfully organised and conducted training related to production, camera works, direction, marketing etc, in collaboration with ABU members.

ABU Sports Network

The ABU Sports Network, is a platform to share, and exchange audio video content related to Sports. It will provide members with diverse content for sports programming. Materials shared and exchanged can be used in whole or part for news and programmes.

Sports Activities

The 63rd Sports Group Conference and Associated Meetings took place on Sept 30 and Oct 1, 2019 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.The conference started with the two committee meetings, where matters related to Broadcast Rights and Finance were discussed

Production & Delivery

The ABU Sports is also working towards bringing single sports events and many other regional and world champion competitions to the members. ABU Sports is also planning to expand its on-site production services to daily operation services to facilitate members’ on on-site production and delivery.
