ABU 2nd Media Summit on Climate Change and DRR to be kicked off this week in Krabi, Thailand

The stage is being set at Maritime Park and Spa Resort in Krabi, Thailand for the 2nd ABU Media Summit on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction that will run from 12-14 May 2016, with an amazing line-up of 40 prominent speakers including media professionals, environmental specialists, climate change scientists and subject matter experts among others.

More than120 participants from 25 countries have registered for the summit so far, while the number of participants is anticipated to reach 200.

Participants will discuss the challenges facing media in reporting on changing climate patterns and the solutions that media can offer for adaptation to these changing patterns. The summit will build on the ABU commitment to put media on the frontline of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction. The programme for the summit includes insightful sessions on the issues of Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction, including an NHK, Japan Masterclass on Early Warnings.

Other major events on the side-line of the 3-day event include;

  • ABU/FAO Workshop on Climate Change and Food Security running from 10-15 May 2016
  • TV Awards on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction  on 13 May 2016
  • Partnership Dialogue on 14 May 2016
